Friday I was informed that I will be moved to 2nd shift (4pm-midnight) starting next week. I am not sure how long this will be for but I really hope it won’t be for very long. This really Isn’t productive for my ever suffering social life. Hopefully it won’t be for more than a few months at the very longest. I am supposed to have Monday and Tuesday off every week. This means I will be working weekends as well. I am also supposed to get a $20 bonus for each weekend day I work. Lets see if I actually get the days off and the bonus when the schedule is actually completed. Speaking of the schedule being completed. That is another thing that has been bothering me. It is Sunday night at 11:05pm, and there is NO schedule for Monday-Sunday this coming week. I mean seriously, I feel like I don’t even want to come in tomorrow. I don’t have a schedule so why show up? It’s like they want us to have a free week or something. Of course I won’t actually not go in to work. But still, It’s the ideas behind it. Especially when I need to know my weekend schedule so that I can plan my weekend to get the rest of my stuff from Kalamazoo. Right now, I HAVE to get it out Saturday. I have the U-Haul booked and ready to go. So regardless if I am scheduled this Saturday I have can’t work that day.
Other than the things mentioned above I am very content with my work. Other than the occasional annoying customer. Hopefully things will smoothen out with the schedule soon and we can get more than a days notice when we have to be in on Monday.
When I got back from Concord on Saturday I spent most of the time working on my colo server trying to get email working properly. Let me tell you that was a pain in the ass. But, I finally got it going which makes me very happy 
While working on my colo server, I was talking to my friend Phil who I met online a few weeks ago. We made plans to meet at the Meridian Mall at 6pm. So I dig up maps to figure out how to get there and write down directions. When I get there we meet up at the food court and get some pop and then proceed to walk around the mall talking for about an hour or so. After talking for a while Phil invites me to his place where I help work on his linux server. He needed to get a few domains running phil-miller.info and pteppic.info. For me this was very easy as I do this kind of stuff every day at work. Although Phil is fairly new to the web hosting industry and is still learning the ropes. It was really fun hanging out with Phil and working on geeky computer stuff. It is nice to know that I am making some progress at getting some cool friends here in Lansing, even though It’s slow progress. I hope that Phil and I can find some time to hang out again.
Friday after me and my roommate got off of work we headed down to Concord, MI for the Welcome Home party for our friend Chris. He just got back from Ethiopia where he has been teaching music for the past few years.
It was definitely a great night. I got buzzed off of 5 Smirnoff Ice Green Apple Bites, and nearly everyone of my friends were drunk and just having a great time. Can’t say that much actually went on except telling jokes, hangin out, and just having a all around great time. I can’t wait to see Chris again and hang out in Concord with all the awesome Hillsdale Wind Symphony friends.
After work on Thursday I headed to Jackson to see my friend Justin. He invited me down for dinner and to see a movie. I got there about 8pm, we had dinner (spaghetti) and then I decided I needed to get new shorts as the pair I have now is beginning to get a hole in them. So we headed off to Meijer where I picked up some Bead Head Mastermind hair styling product, some deodorant and a new pair of shorts. As the Bead Head stuff cost $17 I spent WAY to much money on this, but It’s amazing stuff. After that we went to the movie theatre to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I must say this one was pretty well done. Apart from not having a Quidditch match of course. I can’t wait for the new Harry Potter book to come out today. Not sure If I will buy it or wait until next week when I get paid again, but it is a must get on my list. Well, it is now 1:52am so I think I’m headed to bed so that I can get up for work in the morning.
Ok… So this guy calls in with an email problem. He proceeds to tell me whats wrong. He is really bad at communicating what is wrong as I thought he was having problems receiving email in the sense that people are getting bounce backs. What he really meant was that he can not log in to the email account. So I proceed to troubleshoot bouncing email and he wonders what I’m talking about and I wonder what he is talking about we finally figure out what is going on. The guy then accuses me of not fixing one of his problems in the past because I went home and he replied to the ticket after I went home. I’m just thinking “sorry but I have a life too, It’s not my fault you replied to the ticket at 2am.” He then asks to talk to a different Support Tech. I gladly hand him off to one of my co workers who fixes the problem without any trouble. So, I guess I wont ever be helping this customer again in the future.
